Young Adults Birmingham Meet Up

Saturday 21 September 2019 Café Rouge - Birmingham Young Adult Events

If you're aged 16-30 and living with, or beyond, a brain tumour diagnosis, join us on Saturday 21 September for an afternoon of speed meeting.

Don’t know what that is? Well, think speed dating without the dating bit! It’s a way to get to know new people, spark conversations and have fun. And don’t worry we’ll be providing questions and prompts to help you along so you don’t even have to worry about knowing what to say or ask!

Please meet us at 11.30am at Café Rouge, where you will be welcomed with a refreshing mocktail, followed by a delicious lunch in our private room. Located in Mailbox Birmingham just a 10 minute walk away from three of Birmingham’s main train stations (including New Street) as well as the High Street, Brindleyplace, Bullring and Colmore Row.

Please book your place below – we like to know who to expect and wouldn’t want anyone to miss out.

What should I expect?

Whether you’ve been to one of our meets ups before or whether you’re a plus one or a newbie, everyone is welcome! We're an informal and friendly bunch (promise) and our meet ups are a safe space to get to know new people with similar experiences.

If you’d like to bring a plus one with you, please do – this can be a family member, a friend or a partner.

Where are we meeting?

Just outside of Café Rouge, in the Mailbox at 11.30am.

Travelling in?

There is payable parking at Q-Park Mailbox (Mailbox Car Park), or alternatively at New Street Station and Grand Central Shopping Centre, just a 5 minute walk away from the venue.

For those coming by train, New Street Station is just a 4 minute walk from the venue, with Snow Hill and Moor Hill Stations both approximately 10 minutes from the venue as well. The nearest bus terminals are located on Navigation Street, Hill Street, Suffolk Street Queensway, Broad Street, Stephenson Street and Corporation Street.

Please, try not to worry about…

  • Money. The day is free to attend and lunch will be provided free of charge.
  • Not making friends. We guarantee you will, everyone is in a similar boat and understands your situation so you’re sure to make friends. Plus, our friendly team are there to help too.
  • Fatigue. You’ll be surrounded by people who understand and if there’s anything you don’t want to do, or if you just want some time to relax, that's 100% okay!
  • Not being good at speed meeting. This is a relaxed space of supportive peers where it’s not the winning but the taking part (and having fun) that counts.
  • Coming alone. You’re welcome to bring a plus-one, however, you’re sure to meet lots of people so don’t worry if you do come alone; you soon won’t be!

Please make sure you book your space in advance, so we know you'll be joining us. If you have any questions, or would like help to arrange travel, please contact the Young Adults Team on YAS@thebraintumourcharity.org
