The John Mills Fund

Raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of John.

John's Story

Described in his official medical documents as “hilarious" while hospitalised before a brain biopsy, John's fun, caring personality is clear for everybody to see.

John, born in 1961, is a self-employed builder with hobbies including metal detecting and watching speedway. He developed an interest for historical artefacts and regularly obtained permission to search on fields with an ever-growing group of friends. This passion lead to him being granted a license to search for such objects on the River Thames foreshore. John travels to Cardiff from London every year with his family to watch the British Speedway Grand Prix and has always enjoyed times like these with his family. Father to four children, John's upbringing of each of his children has been nothing short of perfect and he has embraced each of their partners with open arms, showing great love to all.

On the 7th November 2013, John and his family were given the devastating news of his terminal illness. The prognosis for Glioblastoma brain tumour patients is deplorable, and the depth of John's tumour means that surgery is too high a risk. He was rejected for the King's College vaccine trial after a lot of research into open clinical trials by family, friends and even outsiders. The 'JustforJohnJohn' slogan was put together in an attempt to bring awareness to John's condition and seek any global clinical trials, and listen to the stories of how others fought the condition.

The John Mills Fund has been established to help raise funds for the Brain Tumour Charity. The support shown to John by friends and his family has been phenomenal and this fund will enable us all to support John and the entire human race by funding research into brain tumours and ultimately beating this deadly illness.
