The Nick Hart Fund

Raising funds for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of Nick

Nick's Story

Nick was a caring family man with a great sense of humour that lived his life to the full. We couldn't have asked for someone better to have in our lives and it was an enormous loss that we have all suffered.

Nick worked as a cameraman for 25 years, during that time he travelled the world and met all kinds of people. Working as a cameraman allowed him to have many adventures and experience things that many others would never get the chance to.

In April 2014 Nick was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiform, a rare high grade terminal brain tumour. Nick fought bravely for seven months but sadly on the 14 November 2014 he lost his battle with the illness.

In May 2014, he had an operation to remove as much of the brain tumour as possible and later that month underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Unfortunately after the latest MRI scan in October, the treatment didn't work as planned and the tumour had continued to grow. On the 13 November Nick was taken into hospital and on the 14th Nick sadly lost his battle.

Nick always had a brilliant sense of humour and even in adversity throughout his treatment he still managed to maintain a smile whilst having a laugh and a joke. He fought the illness bravely during chemotherapy and radiotherapy, he was walking three miles a day to keep active, the way he fought the illness was testament to his character.

It was in times like the seven months when you realise the strength of someone's character, and Nick was commendable in the way he retained his positivity and determination throughout all of his treatment, some people would come to the conclusion that there's nothing that can be done but not Nick, he did everything he could and continued to battle through.

Nick lived his life to the full, doing some amazing things during his life, whether it was hanging out the side of a helicopter filming or diving around the world. Nick did more in 50 years than most people do in a lifetime. However the only thing he said he wanted to do was to see his kids grow up however by setting up this fund this is a way of remembering a great man and leaving a legacy in his name. He was a real family man and did everything he could for his two sons and his wife and has left an enormous void in our lives.
