Raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity inspired by Tracy who is living with a brain tumour
My name is Tracy Vindel (nee Roberts). I'm 42 years old, living in Oxford with my family; my wonderful husband Nick and my two delightful and energetic young boys aged 7 and 3 years old.
I was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme brain tumour in October 2013 following 2 episodes of falling unconscious. Unknown to me as no-one witnessed them I actually had seizures. Fortunately I had a very astute doctor who refered me to see a neurologist after she noticed I had bitten my tongue and I've been under the care of a great team at Oxford John Radcliffe and Churchill hospitals since following the finding of a tumour after my first scan in September 2013. The first tumour seemed to disappear and I had clear MRI by September 2014 so chemotherapy was stopped. My name for her was Violet aka Shrinking Violet.
I was unfortunate to have a re-occurrence in September 2015, so I have had further surgery and now just back on chemo. This time I have decided to name my tumour Nellie. I am passionate to enjoy life as I have an incredible supportive group of friends and family but also want to give something back so I have chosen to set up this fund. I think its disgraceful that brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer and only receives 2% of all research funding. We need more funding and I feel setting up a Supporter Group will help achieve this.
Thanks for supporting me, along with the fabulous people who help me on this journey in raising funds for this wonderful charity.
