Tom Daley, Olympian and High Profile Supporter of The Charity, teams up with Renault UK to launch a unique, knitted, online auction…

Knitted croissants and baguettes!

Tom has a history of creating unusual fundraising ideas for us, after previously holding knitting pattern and book online auctions, filming a Tik-Tok knitting take-over and presenting our hugely successful 2017 BBC Lifeline Appeal.

Now, Renault UK and Olympic gold medallist, TV presenter and knitting enthusiast Tom Daley have teamed up to raise money for us.

Fresh from appearing in BBC hit show The Traitors and hosting his new Channel 4 series The Game of Wool, Tom has created a collection of quirky, hand-knitted accessories inspired by the Renault 5 E-Tech electric – including croissant pouches and a life-sized baguette. And you could win one of them.

Why a baguette? Because the Renault 5 E-Tech electric is available with the optional extra of an official baguette holder accessory. Yes, you read that right!

The draw runs until 6 January 2026. Entries can be made via donation on the official Crowdfunder page or by free postal entry (details online).

Tom kicked off the campaign with an Instagram Reel and Story on launch day (Wed).

Tom said: “I’m a proud owner of the lovely Renault 5 E-Tech electric, and it’s been such an incredible and fun opportunity to represent Renault this year. I’ve always loved getting creative, and this collaboration gave me the perfect chance to bring a little of my Made With Love spirit into the mix.

“As part of the project, I’ve designed and knitted charming little croissants in the vibrant Renault 5 colours, ideal for keeping your keys safe, and even taken on a life-sized baguette, which is perfect for your R5’s baguette holder or even just as a quirky addition to your kitchen worktop!

“Knitting has always been a passion of mine, and I find so much joy in sharing my creations with others. This time, I wanted to do something extra special by supporting a cause that’s close to my heart, The Brain Tumour Charity. It feels amazing to combine creativity, fun, and giving back all in one. To be in with the chance of winning one of my knitted creations, enter the prize draw through the link provided. I can’t wait to see who gets their hands on them!”

Tamsin Tyson, our Senior Individual Giving Officer, said: “Tom’s continued support for the charity, born from his own family experience, always inspires – his passion, humour and personality shine through and he is key to helping us raise vital awareness of our work. Knitted baked goods… a genius idea. We absolutely love them!”

Tom Daley and The Brain Tumour Charity

Tom Daley is probably most famous for his diving. He competed at an Olympic level aged just 14, representing Great Britain in Beijing in 2008. Since then, he’s competed for the nation in another three Olympic Games, winning three bronze medals along the way.

But it was the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo that really changed his life. Tom Daley won a gold medal in the 10-metre synchro with diving partner, Matty Lee.

This was the cherry on top of an amazing career that had seen the Devon-born diver become one of the greatest in the world, with his Olympic gold joining a combined total of 11 gold medals from the Commonwealth, European and World Championships.

While at the Tokyo Olympics, Tom Daley went to support his fellow athletes at other competitions, taking along one of his favourite hobbies – knitting!

Tom Daley took to knitting like a duck to water. Before he knew it, he’d gone from needle novice to skilled knitter. And, while at the Tokyo Olympics, he decided to create an Olympic cardigan.

Tom had the cardigan auctioned off with the proceeds going to The Charity and aid in memory of his dad, Robert, who died of a brain tumour in 2011.
