Submission: Major Conditions Strategy, government consultation – PDF

The Brain Tumour Charity's submission to the government's consultation of its Major Conditions Strategy, a strategy that will look at six major groups of conditions that contribute to disease in England, including cancer. This Strategy will replace the proposed 10-Year Cancer Plan consultation that we submitted to in May 2022 (response below). The government has stated that the responses received in the 10-Year Cancer Plan consultation will also be taken into consideration for the Major Conditions Strategy. Our short submission here is in addition to our 10-Year Cancer Plan response from last year.

The Brain Tumour Charity's submission to the Health and Social Care Select Committee's Future Cancer Inquiry. This inquiry looks at innovations in cancer diagnosis and treatment. It will look at the innovations with the greatest potential to transform cancer diagnosis and treatment for patients in the short, medium and long term, and it will examine how innovations in diagnosing and treating cancer can best be transitioned into frontline clinical settings. Our submission includes the latest in brain tumour innovations.

Briefing: Health and Care Bill amendment debate – PDF

Without sustained investment in NHS staffing and a detailed plan for the future of the cancer workforce, the gap between staff available to carry out roles and the need from patients for appropriate support could continue to widen. The Lords’ amendment (29B in lieu) on workforce planning is an opportunity to put the NHS and social care workforce back on a sustainable footing, and ensure the system can bring down waiting lists and provide the care that people need.

One Cancer Voice Cancer Charities' Consensus Statement 10-Year Cancer Plan: Call for Evidence – PDF

The Brain Tumour Charity has signed up to a consensus statement developed by One Cancer Voice, a collaborative group of over 50 cancer charities, welcoming the Government’s Call for Evidence to inform a new 10-Year Cancer Plan. In the statement, we set out 10 tests that the new 10-Year Cancer Plan must meet if it's to be successful in delivering world-leading and transformative change for cancer patients.
