Actress Amy Nuttall cooks up a treat for The Big Bake 2026 

To help raise dough for research into brain tumours, Amy breaks out the baking for one of her mum’s favourite treats.

Amy’s support for The Brain Tumour Charity

Beetlejuice BeetlejuiceDownton Abbey and Mr Bates Vs The Post Office actress Amy, has supported The Charity since losing her beloved mum, Elaine, to a glioblastoma brain tumour in October 2023.  
 
Amy came up with a unique tribute idea and went on to record the fundraising single Thank You Mother, on Mother’s Day 2024. She was invited to sing it onstage at the prestigious Smiley Charity Film Awards, the Oscars of the Third sector.  
 
Amy said: “I feel very fortunate to be able to use my platform to do this and all proceeds will go to the wonderful charity, The Brain Tumour Charity. I hope others will find comfort from the beautiful words in this song.”  

This brought with it unique opportunities to further raise awareness and Amy’s profile as one of our cherished celebrity supporters.  

In the same year, in September, Amy was shortlisted for a Third Sector Award for the amazing work she’s done for The Brain Tumour Charity. 
 
Together with family members, she has taken part in our last two Twilight Walks in London and last Autumn, she ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon for us featuring her story in Runner’s World magazine. 

Brownie Bonanza

Kneading another fundraising challenge for us, Amy’s raided her kitchen cupboards… 

“The Big Bake is here, so here I am! 

I’m not a very good baker but I’m going to give it a go. My mum loved chocolate brownies, so I’m going to give that a bash today. 
 
“I’m here to inspire you all hopefully and encourage you all to gather people in your community, at your schools, wherever, to help fundraise for this amazing charity that needs as much fundraising and help as possible. 

So, please help. Let’s get baking and raise some much-needed money.” 

An easy brownie recipe

Ingredients:

225g unsalted butter

450g caster sugar

140g dark chocolate, broken into pieces

5 eggs

110g plain flour

55g cocoa powder

Method:

Heat the oven to 190C/170C Fan/Gas 5. Line a baking tin with baking paper.

Gently melt the butter and the sugar together in a large pan. Once melted, take off the heat and add the chocolate. Stir until melted.

Beat in the eggs, then stir in the flour and the cocoa powder.

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared tin and bake for 30–35 minutes.

Take out of the oven and leave to cool in the tin. Cut the brownies into squares when completely cool.
