Skydive Day

Join our team of fearless fundraisers and take a leap to beat brain tumours sooner.

We are hosting a skydive day at the Salisbury airfield this August! Sign up today to feel the rush as you free fall at 125mph from 10,000 feet in a tandem skydive!

We will be there on the day to support you and celebrate your amazing accomplishment along with other fundraisers completing the jump!

Overview of the day

  • Arrive at Salisbury airfield for 9am, you will be greeted by The Brain Tumour Charity and then you will need to head to the reception desk to check in. You will need to hand in your medical form to the team at the desk. and they will give you an introduction about what to expect you’re completing your skydive.
  • Training: You will be given specialist training from the team. The British Skydiving approved training will only take around 10-15 minutes and will give you all the information you need to complete the parachute jump safely.
  • Going up: You will be greeted by your personal skydive instructor who will escort you to the plane. They will make sure your harness is secured to theirs and the flight will commence. The pilot will take you up to the correct altitude which shouldn’t take any longer than 20 minutes. You will take in all the views below before your instructor moved you towards to door.
  • Going down: The instructor will tilt your head back and edge out of the plane. Strapped to your instructor you will fall out into the air at about 125mph. Depending on whether you’re jumping from 10,000ft or 15,000ft – the fall will last between 30-60 seconds.
  • The parachute: At 5,000ft the instructor will deploy the parachute which will slow you down. As you drift down to the landing area you will enjoy the quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
  • Landing: Once you reach landing, you will assume the landing position as explained in the training. And that’s done!

Join our skydive day team today to be part of the movement accelerating a cure!

FAQs

The maximum weight is 16st

Skydiving is a weather dependent activity this means there is a chance you may have to wait all day for the right weather conditions and then not be able to jump. The airfield will try their best to make sure you can jump on the day!

Check out Skylines a day in a life of a skydiver article to see what you’ll be doing on the day. They also have more information on their FAQs page.

All of our jumpers will have needed to raise the £395 minimum sponsorship by the 17th August. This is so the Charity are able to cover the £200 cost of your skydive and for the rest of your fundraising to go to beating brain tumours. If you are unable to reach the minimum fundraising you will have to cover the cost of the skydive on the day. However, we will support you through your fundraising journey.
