Annabel’s story

Annabel was a beautiful little girl who was always smiling and giggling. She loved her school, going to ballet and swimming lessons and absolutely adored her little 3 year old brother, Elliot.

In August 2003, Annabel developed an occasional squint in one eye and seemed slightly unsteady on her feet. On 5th September 2003 she was diagnosed with having a brain tumour, a brain stem glioma.

Throughout her illness, Annabel showed absolute courage and determination to live life to the full and was an inspiration to everyone with whom she came in contact. Tragically, she died whilst in the arms of her family at the end of November, eighteen days after her 6th birthday.

Joanne and David, Annabel’s parents, are devastated at their loss and have joined The Brain Tumour Charity in a joint effort to help prevent other children from enduring this tragedy.

The Fund was started with £800 which was given in Annabel’s memory from friends and family and a further £2,200 was raised by Annabel’s school, ‘The Hawthorns’ in Wokingham.
