Simon’s story
Our son Simon sadly lost his brave 11 month fight against the Grade 4 Glioblastoma Brain Tumour on Friday 13th September 2013. He passed away in Martlets Hospice in Hove with his mother holding his hand. He had just managed to celebrate his 40th birthday in June.
Simon graduated from Brighton University in Fashion Textiles Design with Business Studies and also won Graduate of the year in 1995 at the BHS Graduate Fashion Week exhibition.
Simon had exhibited his textiles at Premiere Vision and formerly worked in Paris creating trend and forecasting brochures for clients in Europe, Japan and America. As a woven textile designer and stylist, Simon’s clients had included Vivienne Westwood, Christian Lacroix, Missoni, Simply Red, All Saints, BBC and London Fashion Week.

“His heartbroken family all promise to continue fundraising in his name until a cure can be found for this devastating illness”
Simon ran the successful BA Fashion degree at Northbrook College UK. He previously worked as a design and illustration tutor at the London College of Fashion; as course leader for the Fashion National Diploma at Hertford Regional College and as programme leader for the BA Fashion courses at Southampton Solent University UK.
Simon had recently completed a lecture series on research and design methodologies at Shanghai University in China and at various UK universities.
He was a truly inspirational lecturer and was passionate about his chosen subject in the fashion world. He has written two world best selling text books, which will be his legacy.
He was a loving son, caring brother and devoted uncle. He lived in Brighton with his partner. He was well known in the Brighton and London club scene and will be greatly missed by all his many friends and colleagues who described him as being a ‘true gentleman’.
His heartbroken family all promise to continue fundraising in his name until a cure can be found for this devastating illness.
