On 5th May, internationally renowned electronic duo Bicep will join forces with world-class, Michelin‑starred chefs for SENSORA, a new multi-sensory fundraising event, taking place at HERE at Outernet in London, led by The Brain Tumour Charity.

The idea for the event was created by brothers Mark Tuttiett (Head Chef at two Michelin starred Da Terra) and James Tuttiett.  Having done lots of fundraising already through sporting events, James challenged Mark to go further. Together they created the idea for a fine dining and music event. And then approached The Charity to work together to bring the idea to life. Working together, we have created SENSORA with support of creative agency VCCP.

Bicep will perform an intimate DJ set to accompany six courses, each representing one of the senses.

SENSORA takes place in central London and will combine the amazing venue at Outernet, with fine dining, music and visuals.

The night will also feature Bicep, who have previously supported The Charity, and who will provide the soundtrack for the evening.

Each course represents a different sense, with music and visuals to heighten the experience.

Mark said: “My dad always wanted to help people. He always saw the good in people. He created a legacy. It’s now our chance to give that back to make an impact.”

The siblings’ story

SENSORA is built on real family experience. This is Mark and James’ story.

James: “Our story is simple, and it’s brutal. We lost both our parents to glioblastoma. Our mum [pictured below left] died aged just 42, less than four months after diagnosis, at Easter. We were 11, nine and six. In our twenties, our dad [pictured below right] was diagnosed. The same again: glioblastoma. It is extraordinarily rare and deeply cruel for both parents to be taken by the same diagnosis. Dad had seen what mum endured and made a clear decision. He declined treatment and died within six weeks.

“This is why SENSORA exists. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK. There are no lifestyle links and 35 families every day are told someone they love has a brain tumour. “Everything we’re creating with SENSORA is rooted in the brain – food, music, light and sound – bringing people closer to the reality of what’s at stake. Matt McBriar, one DJ half of Bicep, has lived through his own brain tumour diagnosis, and the surgery that followed.

“The Brain Tumour Charity supported Matt through his diagnosis and recovery. His openness in sharing his experience has connected a global music audience to the reality of brain tumours. His involvement in SENSORA is personal.

“The Brain Tumour Charity is committed to saving and improving lives. SENSORA will fund life-changing research, support families and drive urgent change.”

“It’s our first year of SENSORA and we want it to be exceptional.”

Mark: “We wanted to challenge ourselves to create something truly meaningful and different. SENSORA is deeply personal to me and my brother; many of the people involved supported us while we were losing our dad, and the chefs taking part have shown us what real support looks like.

SENSORA: Creating a legacy

“We want to create a legacy. Our dad left his mark through the students he taught, and our mum through her work as a dietitian – this is our way of honouring them, by bringing people together in a powerful, lasting way.

“At its heart, SENSORA is about appreciation. We take so much for granted – we rely so heavily on our senses – and they can be taken away quickly. I witnessed first-hand how everything can change in a matter of weeks. This evening is about reconnecting our senses, with each other, and truly being present.”

Matt McBriar, Bicep: “In 2024 I was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma – a rare brain tumour on my pituitary gland – and The Brain Tumour Charity were incredibly supportive during my time in hospital and in recovery.

“I know first-hand how quickly everything can change. Being part of SENSORA feels like a meaningful way to give something back to the charity, and to a cause that is very close to my heart. Mark and James have built something truly special, and we’re honoured to be part of it.”

Clare Horwood, Director of Fundraising, The Brain Tumour Charity:  “Our heartfelt thanks go to brothers James and Mark and to everyone who is donating their time and skill to make this outstanding evening a possibility, standing alongside us to change the shocking statistic that brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of children and adults under 40 in the UK. It will undoubtedly be a night to remember.”
