The Brain Tumour Charity appoints new Interim CEO

The Brain Tumour Charity has announced today that Beth Worrall has been appointed as Interim CEO

The Brain Tumour Charity has announced today that Beth Worrall has been appointed as Interim CEO. Consequently, Graham Norton’s planned tenure as Interim CEO finishes, following his appointment in July 2022. Graham Norton will be handing over as Interim CEO to Beth Worrall on 2 May 2023.

Graham now plans to enjoy his well-earned retirement but will continue to remain closely involved with The Charity. He first became involved as a Trustee of legacy organisation, the Samantha Dickson Brain Tumour Trust, in 2003, following the death of his son in 2000, and continued as a Trustee until his appointment as Interim CEO last year.

Correspondingly, Interim Deputy CEO Graham Lindsay’s planned tenure will also come to a close. A Trustee since 2010 and Vice Chair from 2013 to 2022. His involvement with The Charity started soon after his wife Judy was diagnosed with a tumour in 2006.

Jack Morris CBE, Chair of Trustees at The Brain Tumour Charity, said:

We are delighted that Beth has agreed to act as our Interim CEO, whilst we seek a permanent appointment. Beth’s extensive commercial background coupled with her wide experience as a Trustee of The Charity make her an excellent appointment in this role. I am very much looking forward to working with her in this capacity.

I would also like to express my thanks and admiration to Graham Norton and Graham Lindsay for their incredible contribution to The Charity, both in executive roles over the past nine months and indeed previously as longstanding Trustees.

Last year, The Charity reached its highest ever income of £11.5M and that is set to grow again one year on with its development as the global leader for funding research into brain tumours, the expansion of its support services and campaigning going from strength to strength.

The leadership of two people with such long associations and involvement in The Charity has been invaluable and we look forward to their ongoing involvement with The Charity as supporters and founding members.

Graham Norton, Outgoing Interim CEO at The Brain Tumour Charity, said:

It has been a pleasure and privilege to lead The Charity during such an exciting time. It was my aim when stepping into this role to support the team in delivering the most ambitious, most uncompromising impact possible for so many people affected by this devastating disease.

Beth Worrall, who joins The Charity as Interim CEO on 2 May 2023, said:

I’m delighted to be joining the Senior Leadership Team and to have the opportunity to work more closely with them, the wider team and our community whilst we continue our search for a permanent CEO.

The Brain Tumour Charity is an exceptional organisation driven to create real change for everyone impacted by the disease and I’m excited to be supporting the team at this moment in time as we set out delivering on our new, co-created strategy – Living Longer and Better: 2023 -2030.
