We’re living in extraordinary times, and the impact of coronavirus has been felt by us all.
Despite the current unprecedented situation, as the UK’s leading brain tumour charity, we will not stop funding new research into finding a cure.
To date, we’ve dedicated more than £50 million to forward-thinking research and don’t want the current challenges to significantly slow our progress. So, we’ve recently committed to investing a further £4.8 million in research projects to run over the next five years.
We’re aware that by maintaining this level of investment in research, we’ll have to raise even more funds in the future. But in our commitment to push the boundaries of research to help drive change more quickly, we know that this is the right thing to do for people affected by brain tumours.
Dr David Jenkinson, our Chief Scientific Officer, said: ”It is important that we don’t let the COVID-19 pandemic stop the efforts to find a cure for those affected by a brain tumour and with this commitment we hope that researchers will see there is a way to restart research once conditions allow.
“Our processes identify the best research for us to support and I’m confident that the projects we have selected will help us towards our goals of doubling survival and halving the harm caused by brain tumours.”
