New Chair of Trustees – Same Mission

As we say a fond farewell to Jack Morris CBE, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Fraser Longden as our new Chair of Trustees.

The end of an era

Our Chair of Trustees, Jack Morris CBE will stand down from his role on 30 March 2026 after volunteering his time to help run The Charity for a full two-term tenure of eight years.

We are immensely grateful to Jack for his hard work and commitment, and wish him all the best for the future.

Jack joined The Brain Tumour Charity in 2018 after he and his wife, Susan, tragically lost their daughter Emily to a glioblastoma at the age of 31.

It’s been an honour to lead such a diverse, committed, and skilled team of trustees, senior leadership, and staff. Over the past eight years we have achieved so much and I’m more optimistic about the rate of progress towards finding a cure, as well as the support we are providing to those affected.

I’m proud to be leaving The Charity in a much stronger place than when I arrived, and I’m delighted that Fraser will be succeeding me as Chair. He comes from a successful business background, has a great understanding of The Charity and I wish him and The Charity every success for the future.”

Deep connection to the charity

We are delighted to welcome Fraser Longden as our new Chair.  Already a trustee, Fraser retired in 2025 following a long and successful career in retail.

He brings with him a wealth of commercial experience – his last role was as Chief Operations Officer at Wickes PLC – combined with a deep sense of connection to the charity.

Our incredible partnership with Wickes, which raised an amazing £2m for us between 2023 and 2025, enabled him to see the work of The Charity first-hand.

I am deeply honoured to step into the role of Chair of Trustees for The Brain Tumour Charity. Having witnessed the devastating impact of this disease and the urgent need for more advanced treatments, I am incredibly motivated by the vital work this charity leads.

Over the past few months, I have been struck by The Charity’s ambitious strategy, the focus of the Leadership Team, the passion of the whole team – including our wonderful volunteers – and the dedication of my fellow Trustees. This momentum is a true testament to Jack’s stewardship.

I feel a tangible sense of energy across the organisation, and I am eager to help lead the next chapter as we continue to drive meaningful change for everyone affected by a brain tumour diagnosis.”

Dr Michele Afif, Chief Executive Officer at The Brain Tumour Charity, said: “From the outset, Jack’s vision, leadership, warmth and generosity has been both a guiding light and a driving force for good.

Alongside unswerving support for our community, he has overseen not just significant income growth, but also step changes in delivery which have enabled an important expansion and focus for our funding of world class research.

I know we are in the strongest possible hands, as Fraser takes the lead, and that he will continue to offer thoughtful and compassionate leadership as we deliver our ambitious strategic goals.”
