The Be More Laura Foundation pledges £25,000 towards pioneering research

The Be More Laura Foundation has donated to The Brain Tumour Charity £25,000 to help fund our pioneering ARISTOCRAT clinical trial in memory of Laura Nuttall.

During her short but spectacular life, Laura Nuttall was one of The Brain Tumour Charity’s fiercest champions – from her work as a Young Ambassador and a fundraiser to spreading awareness of brain tumour signs and symptoms. Following Laura’s death in May 2023, her devoted family set up The Be More Laura Foundation so they can continue supporting the causes that Laura was so passionate about, including research into brain tumours.

Introducing The Be More Laura Foundation

In this video the Nuttalls introduce The Be More Laura Foundation and speak about how they aim to increase the amount of research into brain tumours.

The Brain Tumour Charity are one of the first lucky recipients of the new Foundation’s support. We’re so incredibly grateful for the gift of £25,000 towards Professor Susan Short’s ASTROCRAT clinical trial at The University of Leeds.

The ARISTOCRAT trial is investigating whether combining nabiximols (also known as Sativex) and chemotherapy can help people diagnosed with a glioblastoma live longer, better lives than chemotherapy alone.

Laura’s mum Nicola said, “Laura was passionate about funding research. She knew it was the only way to make advances in extending the life of people diagnosed with brain cancer.

“Laura was also very interested in the possible benefits of cannabis and would have been proud to have her name associated with this ground-breaking trial.”

Gina Almond, Director of Marketing and Fundraising at The Brain Tumour Charity said, “We’re eternally grateful to The Be More Laura Foundation for their exceptional generosity and support in loving memory of Laura.

“This incredible gift will help fund research that not only aims to help extend the lives of people diagnosed with a glioblastoma – but help them enjoy a better quality of life.

“As a family, The Nuttall’s ability to turn grief into a source of hope and support for others is truly remarkable. We look forward to seeing all the wonderful things Nicola, Mark and Gracie achieve at The Foundation in memory of their Laura.”
