Announcing our partnership with Public Health England

This pioneering analytical partnership with Public Health England’s National Disease Registration Service will lead to us collaborating much more closely, in order to improve the availability of brain tumour information for the benefit of our community.

The focus of the partnership between The Charity and Public Health England (PHE) is to improve outcomes for those living with a brain tumour through the use and application of the wealth of data available to PHE.

As part of this new relationship, we are embedded within the Cancer Analysis team at PHE headquarters in Cambridge, to focus specifically on analysing brain tumour data.

The analysis we carry out with PHE will feed into BRIAN, our global web-based brain tumour app, enabling us to benefit from access to both a wider range of data and the support of cancer analysis experts to understand, in detail, the experiences of brain tumour patients.

Fiachra Woodman, our Chief Technology Officer, said: “The partnership will benefit our community by allowing us to put brain tumours higher up the agenda of research and analysis, and the insights that we will publish through BRIAN will help brain tumour patients and their families make better informed decisions about their care and treatment.

“Such innovative collaboration is fundamental to The Brain Tumour Charity’s strategy of accelerating research to find a cure, placing BRIAN and PHE at the forefront of this ambition.”
