Culture and values
With us, you can be you – the real you!
While we face tough challenges along the way, we nurture an inspiring, fun and positive team environment where you feel valued for being you – the real you, and where you can use your unique talents and skillset most effectively to make a productive and successful difference.

A ‘we can’ culture
From recent graduates to true experts in their fields, we are a pioneering, passionate, collaborative and smart team.
While we face tough challenges along the way, we nurture an inspiring, fun and positive team environment where you feel valued for being you – the real you, and where you can use your unique talents and skillset most effectively to make a productive and successful difference.

“We have sheer determination to make things work so we meet our goals, but also the flexibility to change direction if that’s what’s needed. Not many charities would be brave enough or confident enough to do that!”
Francesca, Head of Fundraising (Community Fundraising)
Our values
Our values: community-first, collaborative, bold and innovative, underpin our culture, the way we do things and what we believe in.
-
We put the community’s needs first, ensuring our work is informed by those with lived experience and that they are the driving force behind our decisions. We include everyone, amplifying their voices and uniting in our shared purpose to create change.
-
We know that we’re stronger together, so we choose to lean on each other, share openly and utilise expertise and knowledge wherever it exists. We seek out and support diverse perspectives, operate without ego and are part of a connected eco-system that everyone can join.
-
We are unapologetically ambitious and true to ourselves. We’ll be brave and think bigger – as there’s just no time to waste. We’ll be confident and relentless in challenging the status quo, even when that means making difficult decisions. We’re determined, focused and unstoppable.
-
We’re creative and adopt a growth mindset, always using our experience and imaginations to find smarter and more effective ways to propel progress. We’re not afraid to think differently, find new ways to solve problems and be agile in ‘testing and learning’, so we can move at pace in pursuit of our vision.
Opportunities worth going that extra mile for!
While we’re not based in a big city, don’t let our location put you off – we cast our net far and wide in order to recruit the very best people and our team travel in from all over. We are currently experimenting with a hybrid way of working, with many team members choosing to split their time between the office and home and we have a growing number of home-based colleagues who support our work across the UK.
Based in Fleet, a town in north east Hampshire, we’re just 40 minutes from London by train, and an easy commute from Basingstoke, Guildford, Reading, Southampton and the surrounding areas.
Our new, bright and modern office is situated in a purpose built business park, and we offer free car parking – a significant cost saving compared to a central town location. We’re only a short walk, cycle or taxi ride from Fleet mainline station,

“Living in Scotland, I work remotely most of the time, but The Charity really invests in making sure everyone stays connected. Our culture plays a huge part in making remote working so inclusive and I’m incredibly grateful to work with a truly fantastic bunch of kind and passionate people who happily hop on Zoom or pick up the phone for a wee chat to check in on how you are!”
Alice (she/her), Development Manager (Scotland)
