What benefits are available for someone living with a brain tumour?

Even if you don’t think of yourself as having a disability, you may be eligible for financial support if you’re living with a low or high grade brain tumour.

Many of the symptoms and side-effects caused by brain tumours and some treatments can make it much more difficult to work. It’s common for people with a brain tumour diagnosis to reduce the amount they work or stop working all together. Often this is only necessary for a short period of time but sometimes living with a brain tumour means never returning to full-time work.

Unsurprisingly, this can have a huge financial impact, which is why it’s so important those affected by brain tumour understand the financial support they may be entitled to. This may include:

  • Statutory Sick Pay (SSP)
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Attendance Allowance (AA)
  • Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support
  • Exemptions or discounts to your council tax bill
  • A range of tax credits.

Am I eligible for financial support?

The benefits you are entitled to will depend on your circumstances. You may be able to claim more than one type of benefit at the same time – for example, PIP and ESA.

If you’re not sure what you’re entitled to, why not book a free appointment for our benefits phone clinic?
