Our ten-year-old supporter Amelia Gebruers wins a Pride of Britain award

Our ten year old supporter Amelia Gebruers won a Pride of Britain award for her fundraising achievements.

“Amelia, we think you are probably the bravest person we have ever met.”

Simon Cowell spoke for all of The X Factor judges when he presented our ten-year-old supporter Amelia Gebruers with a Pride of Britain award for her fundraising achievements.

Amelia lost her dad Peter to a brain tumour in February. He was diagnosed with the disease in January last year, shortly after her younger brother Josh was told he had a life-threatening condition called Arteriovenous Malformation – a tangle of blood vessels in his brain which puts him at risk of having a stroke.

Since then, Amelia has raised more than £25,000 for causes including The Brain Tumour Charity.

Her incredible efforts earned her the award of Lidl Young Fundraiser of the Year at The Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards, which will be broadcast on ITV1 at 8pm this evening.

Congratulations Amelia – and huge thanks to you and all of our amazing fundraisers.
